Factual/Surveillance investigative which covers the two specialist investigative areas, it is suitable for private inquiry sub-agents and private inquiry agents and factual investigators. It covers national competency standards applicable to private inquiry agents and factual investigators industry-wide.

 

Student Selection Criteria For Certificate III in Investigative Services

The candidate must have appropriate written and oral comprehension of the English language, that is, a reasonable level of communication skills and written English skills. If English is not the client’s first language they will be required to obtain an English Language proficiency rating of 6.0 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or Australian Second Language Proficiency Rating (ASLPR) 3+ or equivalent.

 

Course Aims:

Certificate III in Investigative Services covers the two specialist investigative areas; it equips students with necessary skills that are required for factual investigation and surveillance by private inquiry agents & their sub-agents.

 

Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of this course, students will:

-         Work effectively in the investigative industry and demonstrate effective information gathering skills;

-         Have acquired the underpinning knowledge and skills in preparing and present evidence in court;

-         Have acquire the underpinning knowledge and skills in maintaining workplace relationships;

-         Demonstrate knowledge in how to both conduct & record surveillance information in an effective manner;

-         Have acquired the underpinning knowledge and skills in conducting interviews and providing evidence in court.

-         Have a practical understanding of the equipment used by factual investigators & surveillance operatives.


Content, Organisation & Teaching Techniques:

Certificate III in Investigative Services (PRS30303) is delivered in 5 classes per week over 2 weeks. (Please see content Summary for Further Information).

 

It is the aim of the lectures to present basic principles and concepts, and highlights their importance to the security industry & is placed in the context of factual investigations.

 

Learning Options provide students with an opportunity to further understand the application of these concepts, principles and the strategies of their implementation in the industry through various scenarios. The aims of these Learning Options are to clarify and reinforce the material covered in the preceding lectures.

 

The application of the material presented to the students is essential for them to gain the appropriate level of understanding required to satisfy the course outcomes; and use of these principles and their concepts are quickly developed by these Learning Options.

 

The course involves classroom attendance as well as home-based work activities on your own, to apply skills learnt to an assignment. Trainer mentor support is provided during this time.

 

 Duration: 2 weeks at 5 days per week or the option of spreading the content over a 6 month period
